Fallen Japanese Leaves
There has always been a strong emphasis on time’s passage and its impact on environment in Japan’s artistic and cultural productions. The autumn colours are celebrated in the fall, typically between the middle and the end of November, just like the blossoming of cherry trees is celebrated during hanami season (cherry blossom viewing) in March and April. This is before the onset of winter and the plum blossoms in February. This takes place in late March or early April, when the cherry blossoms are at their peak beauty.
