Free Visa-entry to China

Holders of ordinary passports from visa-free countries who come to China for tourism for not more than 30 days will be exempted from applying for visas. If you are eligible for a visa waiver, you can apply for one before your China tours.

Visa-free Entry Requirements

Citizens belonging to the countries covered by the 240-hour transit visa waiver, 54 countries have now been included in the range of countries covered by the 240-hour transit visa waiver. Tourists are required to hold their own valid international travel documents and meet the conditions for entry to a third country or region.

Travelers are required to have a joint ticket or relevant proof of transit to a third country or region with a seat booked within 240 hours. Fill out an entry card for foreigners who have entered the country temporarily and undergo inspection by the border control authorities at the entry and exit points.

Compliance with Relevant Regulations

During their stay in China, they are required to comply with Chinese laws and regulations, and to register for accommodation at hotels or public security police stations within 24 hours of their entry into China. Transit visa-free foreign travelers may stay in China for no more than 240 hours, during which time they may engage in activities such as tourism, business, visits and family visits.

If there is an urgent and reasonable cause or force majeure, etc. that requires them to stay in China for more than the prescribed period of time or beyond the permitted stay area, they should apply for a stay document in advance to the exit-entry administration department of the public security organ at their place of residence.

Choose a Port of Entry

Citizens of 54 countries applying the 240-hour visa-free transit policy can enter the country at any of the 60 ports of entry applying the visa-free transit policy, including Beijing and Shanghai. If you are planning Pingyao tours or Zhangjiajie tours, etc., you can enter the country at a nearby port and then take a high-speed train to reach your destination.

Attention to Scope of Travel

After entering the country, foreign travelers can travel and sightsee in the specified areas where the transit visa-free policy applies. During their travels, they should pay attention to rationally planning their travel routes in accordance with the areas where they are permitted to stay and should not exceed the limits of their stay.

Other Notes

According to the relevant regulations, the border control authorities will not issue temporary entry permits to those who hold international travel documents with a validity period of less than three months, or those who have the stamp of the refusal seal of the visa authorities in China, and those who have records of illegal entry and exit, illegal residence and illegal employment in China within five years and other illegal situations.
